How Much Does an Accountant Cost in Dubai in 2026?
Accountants in Dubai charge AED 500-3,000 per month depending on volume and scope. Compare 2026 market rates with Amary's flat fee from AED 699/month.

An outsourced accountant in Dubai costs between AED 500 and 3,000 per month for a small company, rising to AED 3,500-6,000 once VAT filings and corporate tax work are included. At Amary, the full package — bookkeeping, VAT, corporate tax, a dedicated accountant — starts at AED 699 per month, published and fixed.
That's the short answer. The longer one is worth your time, because Dubai's accounting market has a habit that frustrates every business owner we meet: almost nobody publishes prices. You fill in a form, someone calls you, and the "customised quote" that follows can vary fourfold between firms for identical work. This guide puts real 2026 numbers on the table so you know what's fair, what's inflated, and what's suspiciously cheap.
Why every UAE company now needs an accountant
The "zero tax, zero paperwork" era is over. Since June 2023, every UAE company falls under corporate tax: 0% on profit up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it, with mandatory registration and an annual return even when the bill is nil. VAT at 5% kicks in once taxable turnover passes AED 375,000. And the law requires proper books of account, with records kept for at least 7 years, enforceable by the Federal Tax Authority (tax.gov.ae).
Getting it wrong also became more expensive this year. Since 14 April 2026, Cabinet Decision 129/2025 charges 14% annual interest on late tax payments, replacing the old monthly penalty regime. Sloppy books that understate your liability now compound against you month after month.
Dubai accounting prices in 2026: the full market table
Ranges observed across Dubai firms in early 2026 (sources: Tally Solutions, Risians Accounting):
| Service (2026) | Dubai market (AED/month) | Amary (AED/month) |
|---|---|---|
| Basic bookkeeping (< 100 transactions) | 500 – 1,800 | included from 699 |
| Bookkeeping + quarterly VAT + annual corporate tax | 2,000 – 5,000 | from 699 (volume-based) |
| Full SME accounting (100-500 transactions) | 3,500 – 6,000 | published quote |
| Outsourced CFO / analysis & projections | 7,000 – 10,000 | CFO-as-a-Service add-on |
| In-house accountant (total employment cost) | 10,000 – 18,000 | — |
Three things jump out. First, outsourcing beats hiring by a wide margin: once you add visa, insurance and end-of-service gratuity to the salary, an in-house accountant runs AED 120,000-216,000 a year — hard to justify below 30 staff. Second, the bottom of the market (AED 500-800) is almost always raw data entry with tax filings excluded: VAT returns then cost AED 1,000-2,000 each on top, and the corporate tax return another AED 2,000-5,000. Third, the realistic sweet spot for a freelancer or small company is AED 700-2,000 all-in per month — which is precisely where Amary set its pricing.
What actually moves the price
Four factors drive your quote, in this order.
Transaction volume. The first question any serious firm asks. A consultancy issuing four invoices a month and an online store collecting 600 Stripe payments are different jobs. Expect a pricing tier roughly every 50-100 monthly transactions.
Tax scope. VAT-registered? That's four return cycles a year to prepare and file. Profit above AED 375,000? A corporate tax return involves genuine adjustment work, not a one-click export. Confirm in writing that both are inside your package — excluded filings are the market's favourite surprise charge.
The state of your books. Backlog clean-ups are billed per month of history, typically AED 500-1,500 per month reconstructed. Turning up with 18 months of unsorted bank statements costs far more than being onboarded from day one.
Payroll. WPS salary processing is nearly always outside the base fee, at AED 50-100 per payslip. Our UAE payroll guide covers the obligations.
A worked example: James, e-commerce founder in a free zone
James sells home fitness gear, turning over AED 1.4m a year on roughly 350 transactions a month. He is VAT-registered, and with about AED 450,000 in profit he owes 9% corporate tax on AED 75,000 — AED 6,750.
Quotes he received in January 2026: AED 4,200/month from a DIFC-adjacent firm; AED 1,500/month from a budget provider that excluded VAT returns (real smoothed cost: AED 2,300/month); and a fixed volume-tier package from Amary with all filings included, a named accountant on WhatsApp, and a dashboard showing every deadline. The cheapest headline number wasn't the cheapest bill. It rarely is.
Five questions to ask before you sign
- Are VAT and corporate tax returns included or billed separately? Get it in writing.
- Who handles my file — a named accountant, or a rotating pool?
- Where do my documents live — a client dashboard, or scattered email threads?
- Who tracks my deadlines? The FTA fines you, not your accounting firm.
- Can the fee rise mid-year? "From AED X" with no published tier table rarely stays at X.

One-off costs your monthly fee won't cover
Three accounting expenses live outside any monthly package, and it pays to see them coming.
Backlog clean-ups. If your company ran twelve or eighteen months without real books, reconstruction is billed per month of history — AED 500-1,500 per month depending on volume. With every UAE company now facing its first corporate tax return, 2026 is the year many founders meet this invoice. Negotiate it as a single fixed block for the whole backlog rather than a per-month rate.
Audits. Several free zones (DMCC most prominently) require audited financial statements at licence renewal, and Qualifying Free Zone Person status demands them too. A small-company audit trades at AED 5,000-15,000 in Dubai. Your accountant legally cannot audit their own books, so the audit firm is always separate — but clean, well-organised files from a good accountant routinely cut the audit fee in half.
E-invoicing readiness. The UAE's e-invoicing rollout begins across 2026-2027, with invoices transmitted through accredited service providers. If your invoicing lives in Excel today, compliance will carry a transition cost: software, configuration, training. Businesses already on a structured platform — Amary clients invoice through their dashboard — face a much smaller step.
One last detail founders miss: accounting fees from a UAE-established firm carry 5% VAT, which you reclaim in full if your company is VAT-registered. For a registered business, the quoted net price is effectively the real cost.
Cheap, expensive, or fair? A quick sanity check
If a quote sits well below AED 700/month for a VAT-registered business, something is excluded — find out what. If it sits above AED 5,000/month for under 200 transactions with no CFO-level advisory, you're paying for the firm's office address. Fair pricing in 2026 scales with volume, includes all statutory filings, and is written down before you commit. That last part shouldn't be rare. In Dubai, it still is.
When does hiring in-house start to make sense?
The crossover point is later than most founders think. An outsourced package at AED 2,000/month costs AED 24,000 a year. A junior in-house accountant at AED 7,000/month salary actually costs AED 110,000+ once you add the visa (AED 5,000-7,000 every two years), mandatory health insurance, workspace, software licences and end-of-service gratuity accruals — and you still need an external reviewer for corporate tax positions a junior can't sign off alone.
The practical threshold: consider a first in-house hire around 500+ monthly transactions, or when you need daily management reporting. Even then, the hybrid model — in-house bookkeeper, outsourced tax and review — usually beats a full internal team until you pass 50 employees. Below that line, outsourcing isn't the budget option. It's simply the correct sizing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum accountant cost in Dubai?
Around AED 500 per month buys basic data entry with no tax filings. A genuinely complete package (bookkeeping + VAT + corporate tax) starts closer to AED 700-1,000 per month for a small company. Below that, check the exclusions.
Is accounting legally required in the UAE?
Yes. The corporate tax law requires every taxable person to maintain books and records for at least 7 years — including free zone companies and businesses paying 0%.
How much does a single VAT return cost?
AED 500-2,000 per quarterly return on the open market, depending on volume. A monthly package covering all four returns almost always works out cheaper for an active business.
Can accounting software replace an accountant?
Software records; it doesn't decide. Expense deductibility, corporate tax adjustments, VAT treatment of exports — those calls need a professional. The strongest setup combines both, which is Amary's model: dedicated accountant plus client dashboard.
How can Amary charge AED 699/month when others quote AED 3,000?
Process automation (document collection, built-in deadline reminders) and a volume-based tier table published upfront. No commission-driven upselling — the listed price is the price.
Does the Amary fee increase as my business grows?
Only by moving up a volume tier you knew about from day one. Never retroactively, never as a surprise.
